First established in March 2004, Princesa Gold Jewellers was a small shop in the Chezzetcook area along the Eastern Shore. This vibrant company now operates in a larger location on 169 Main Street (located across from Dairy Queen) in Dartmouth, NS, with the same excellent reputation of manufacturing high quality jewellery and related precious-metal art works.
Led by Joel Hernandez who formally studied the goldsmith trade from 1982-1985, including two years of apprenticeship, at the renowned school La Cooperativa de Joyeros y Relojeros de El Salvador in El Salvador, where the jewellery techniques were inherited from the Aztecs, Mayans and other Central American indigenous peoples. In 1988 Joel worked for Zocalo Jewellery in Mexico City. Before founding his business, Joel worked for local shops in Metro Halifax since 1989, and later became independent after a long stay at The Time Shop Jewellery.
Joel is a member of the Metal Arts Guild of Nova Scotia, and has won the following awards and recognitions:
